The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins

So as I said I Would the first book I read was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and I have to say that this was the fastest I have ever read a book before, I was finished with this book in 2 and a half days. So I’ll give you a quick summary of the plot of the book hopefully without giving anything away.

So the hunger games starts off on the day of the reaping with Katniss Everdeen waking up in her bed to find her sister Primrose curled up in bed with their mother which normally means that she has had a nightmare during the night and has curled up with her mother for some comfort. Even though that this day is important Katniss still needs to get up and earn money to feed her family so she gets up braids her hair and gets ready to go hunting in the forest which is against the law but she has been going there since she was a child and knows all the ways to sneak into the forest, even though the electric fence is hardly ever alive she needs to make sure that she is out of site of the peace keepers, after she collects her bow from it hiding place so goes and finds her friend Gale waiting for her where they sit and eat a small piece of goats cheese that her sister left for them this morning and some fresh bread that Gale swapped for a squirrel this morning and it’s still warm and fresh. They sit and ponder what the day will bring after a while they leave to get ready for the reaping as it will be televised like it always is every year, she gets ready with her sister and they both walk down to register where they take a small amount of blood to make sure that everyone who is meant to be there is, after that they all stand in there age range as its Prims first year she stands with the kids in her class at the front of the but with it being prims first year she only has her name in there once but because Katniss has had her name in there before and because she has been taking food and oil  from the capital her name will be in there much more than most people her age. As they all stand there Effie Trinket comes onto the stage to choose the tributes one boy and one girl from each district is pick to fight to the death until one is left who is rewarded with fame and fortune and peace in till they die, as soon as Effie comes onto the stage she welcomes everyone to the 74th reaping and wishes them luck “and may the odds be ever in your favour”. Effie stands on a stage where there are two big glass bowls one for the girls name and one for the boys and “as always ladies first” Effie reaches into her hand into the bowl and pulls out a sealed piece of paper and opens it and the unthinkable happens the name is read out “Primrose Everdeen” even with it being the first year with her name being in there. Katniss stands there in  disbelief for a few moments then snaps back to reality and shouts her sisters name working her way through the crowed to the path way the shout “ I volunteer, I volunteer as tribute” to take the place of her sister, Katniss tells prim to go find mom and when she doesn't move Gale comes and picks prim up and takes her to her mother as Katniss is taken up onto the stage where she waits to see who is going to be going with her to the capital and into the games. As she is standing there not realy paying that much attention Effie calls out the name of the male tribute witch snapped her back to reality to see Peeta Mellark walking up to the stage, as he gets to the stage they both shake hands and walk into the presidents house where they get go say good bye to their loved ones. They get whisked away from there district onto a train where they are taken to the capital where they will train to see who will survive the games and becomes the victor.

Ok so this book is so so so good, I really couldn’t put it down the only time I think I did was to shower, eat, go to college and to sleep I was so enthralled in it. Suzanne Collins did and amazing job when I was reading this book it made me think that I was really in the games and there is a lot that they left out of the film like there always is but I think if they had added them into the film they would of made the characters quite different, you would of seen them in a very different light and this is with me trying to spoil the book for anyone else who wants to read it for themselves, but I will be recommending anyone who has seen the film to read the book as well like I did to see the differences for themselves as it does make you think if they had added this or if they did it this way how it would of come out differently and how would people would of seen it in a different light. So that’s my opinion and my rating is going to a 8.5/10 I loved it but there was a few things that could have been improved but it was amazing non the less, a real page turner. And for everyone who will be reading this book as well " happy hunger games, and may the odds be ever in your favor".

So I will be reading the rest of the hunger games trilogy but i'm not sure when I will be doing that hopefully sometime in the future but I will be updating you soon on what book I will be reading next as I haven’t yet decided and if you have any ideas please leave them in the comments your suggestions.
